Amazon is slowly building its Halo fitness brand, with the original Halo and Halo View fitness trackers, and has just released another gadget at its September premiere. This is not a smartwatch, but still “watches” … you are asleep.
It’s a dramatic way to put it, but the Amazon Halo Rise is basically a sleep tracking gadget designed to improve the quality of your turn a blind eye. The newest device in the Halo line is $ 139.99 (TBA region pricing) and will be available later in 2022.
Halo Rise tracks your sleep with sensors and can monitor your breathing and movements. It uses machine learning to provide detailed breakdowns of your sleep sessions and can even set you apart from other people sharing your bed, so spoonful snoring won’t ruin your metrics.
Amazon Halo Rise also has environmental sensors that check things like temperature and light, and they can use that information to advise you on how to improve your nap.

Moreover, Rise has a clock and a big light; they can combine to wake you up slowly at your chosen moment, theoretically giving you a smoother rise than your smartphone’s roaring alarm.
As you’d expect, Halo Rise works with other Alexa devices; for example, you can see your sleep data on your Echo or ask Alexa to play your favorite song when you wake up. It can also work when you go to bed, and dim the lights or turn off other distractions while you do.
Sleep technology is currently a booming market and this is Amazon’s greatest market pressure so far. It’s yet to be seen how it works with existing Halo gadgets, but shows that Amazon is really serious about its health and fitness products.
We’ll be sure to test Halo Rise as soon as possible so we can see how it compares to other heavyweights sleep tracker.
