I guess it’s time to go back to Night City for round two; this time Solomon Reed is on the ride.
Exciting news was announced at The Game Awards about the Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. Fortunately, we should be able to take it into our own hands 2023. But that’s not the only surprise fans had.
Lately, Cyberpunk has been reborn like a phoenix. After a successful Netflix show and many great patches, the mess we all knew when it first launched seems like a distant memory. Looking at the trailer, it feels like we’re back in the same dingy, dark, and bloody city where we survived the first game.
Let’s hope this memory stays just that memory, because the Phantom Liberty trailer looks too good to have glitches. The crisp quality, gruesome fight scenes, and nasty pavements wet with rain and blood are thrilling enough on their own. But there is one more card up CD Projekt RED’s sleeve.
It’s obvious the arrival of our beloved Jonny Silverhand, played by the ever-charismatic Keanu Reeves, but now there may be a new fan favorite on the block.
Not only does the addition of Solomon Reed look like an exciting move in DLC, but it also taps into Idris Elba’s prodigious talents, and I, for one, couldn’t be more excited.
Video games have made a leap towards using famous actors. Just think of the cast of The Quarry or Rami Malek in Until Dawn. While this may pose a risk to the studios, it does nail the game’s narrative if you have the talent.
Flashback to Until Dawn, Rami Malek’s performance in this one was amazing. Honestly, the entire cast was great, but seeing his character and the distances Malek went through is one of the reasons Until Dawn is one of my favorite horror movies.
So I hope Idris is as good as I hope because I’m so excited to be back in a new and improved Night City.
