Amazon has announced that its new Alexa-powered Echo smart speakers will help boost Wi-Fi signal strength in your home. Several older Echo models will also receive this feature.
At the Amazon Launch Event in September 2022, the retail and device giant unveiled a new feature called Eero in Echo that should help the best smart speakers get even better by acting as Wi-Fi extenders.
New Echo devices like the newly announced Amazon Echo Dot (5th gen), as well as the older Amazon Echo (2020) and Amazon Echo Dot (2020), can now help amplify whole-home Wi-Fi signal by acting as part of your Wi-Fi setup -Fi Eero mesh.
Mesh Wi-Fi systems integrate with your existing home Wi-Fi router to provide better whole-home coverage and are generally better than traditional extenders for good internet speed in larger facilities.
It looks like you’ll still need a few Eero Wi-Fi extenders from Amazon, such as the Eero Home Wi-Fi System. But if you have a bunch of Amazon’s latest smart speakers, hopefully getting full Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home should be a bit cheaper.

With the announcement of new Amazon Echo devices, we expect older models like the Amazon Echo (2020) and Amazon Echo Dot (2020) to receive a discount during the upcoming Amazon Prime Day 2 sale in October. If our gut feeling is correct, you should be able to buy these legacy Eero compatible smart speakers at a discounted price and create a budget-friendly wi-fi setup with mesh.
