Before Elden Ring, before Sekiro, before Bloodborne, before Dark Souls, and even before Demon’s Souls, developer FromSoftware was known for a completely different franchise: Armored Core. If you haven’t heard of it, it may be because it’s been ten years since the last game was released.
After a long, long, long wait, FromSoftware has finally revealed Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon, and it looks stunning.
Set in the far future, in previous games you took on the role of a mercenary, piloting an Armored Core mech for various warring corporations. later games focused more on multiplayer battles, putting you in battle alongside a pile of other players to fight in huge battles filled with robots. But earlier games had single-player campaigns filled with extremely challenging mech combat.
It’s hard to say for sure based on the Armored Core 6 reveal trailer, but it looks like the game is going back to its single-player roots. Certainly, an atmospheric film does not contain Armored Cores en masse.
There are few details about the game, we know it’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and that it’s coming sometime in 2023. In addition, according to Armored Core website (opens in a new tab)and remember that everything is done with Google Translate, you will be able to assemble your own mech and take it to the open battlefields. So far, so Armored Core.
We’ll learn more about the game in the coming months, especially as Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon is due out next year.
