It’s been a fairly quiet month on top streaming services so far, but there are enough new movies and TV shows to grab your attention this weekend to give May 2022 (also known as Strange Things 5 month) run for your money.
The header of the latest arrivals collection is Black mirror season six on Netflix, joined by the long-awaited 2020 sequel Extraction, starring Chris Hemsworth. Elsewhere, Great trip the gang is back for more motoring mayhem on Prime Video i Star Trek: Strange New Worlds gets a season continuation on Paramount Plus.
Below, we’ve rounded up seven of the biggest new movies and TV shows coming to Netflix, Prime Video, Max and more this weekend.
Black Mirror Season 6 (Netflix)
Four years have passed since Charlie Brooker’s death Black mirror has gotten under our skin lately, but now the hugely popular sci-fi anthology returns to Netflix for its sixth season.
The series’ latest collection of dystopian stories features the likes of Aaron Paul, Zazie Beetz, Salma Hayek, Michael Cera, Josh Hartnett and Rob Delaney, with Brooker himself on hand as writer for all five new installments.
Black mirror fans no longer agree on the best – and worst – episodes of Season 6but considering we are talking about one of best Netflix shows ever, there will probably be at least a few new entries here that will make your head spin and your stomach turn.

Chris Hemsworth Trades Asgard For Spying In Sequel To Sam Hargrave’s 2020 Blockbuster Extractionwhich is now streaming on Netflix.
Extraction 2 finds Hemsworth’s seemingly indestructible hero, Tyler Rake, returning with another high-stakes special ops mission and traversing the world, this time to rescue the imprisoned family of a ruthless mobster.
In our Extraction 2 review, described the film as “more suspenseful, thematically rich and action-packed” than its predecessor, but criticized its lack of depth. That said, the film’s 21-minute one-shot action sequence is doozy – and we spoke to Hargrave about how he and his team made it happen.

The Big Tour: Eurocrash (Best Movie)
The faithful trio of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond returns to Prime Video this weekend for one last ill-fated car adventure.
Big Tour: Eurocrash finds hapless British presenters embarking on a 1,400-mile journey through the geopolitical barrier formerly known as the Iron Curtain, which once consisted of countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia.
If you’ve ever seen the Grand Tour special, you’ll know exactly what to expect from this new feature: curse words, extreme vehicles, and most likely a few minor explosions.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 (Paramount Plus)
The Star Trek series has had a rough ride recently, but last year Star Trek: Strange New Worlds proved to be a hit with both existing fans and newcomers.
Now, the spin-off returns for a second season on Paramount Plus, adding James T. Kirk as a regular actor and comedy legend Carol Kane as the mysterious, hilarious chief engineer Pelia.
Otherwise, you can safely expect more of the same intergalactic action Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, although a later season episode will reportedly mix live-action with animation and crossbreed with characters from Star Trek: Lower Decks.

The Full Monty (Hulu, Disney Plus)
The new comedy series arrives 25 years after its Best Picture nominated predecessor Full Montywhich is now streaming on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in the UK.
This FX-produced show picks up – you guessed it – 25 years after Gaz, Dave, Lomper and crew first took the stage to endure anything, with Robert Carlyl, Mark Addy, Tom Wilkinson, Lesley Sharp, Hugo Speer , Paul Barber, Steve Huison and Wim Snap reprise their roles from the original 1997 film. Novices are Miles Jupp and Paul Clayton.
Critics have not been kind to him Full Monty thus far describing the series as “flawed but full of understated charm”. Still, fans of Peter Cattaneo’s original are sure to find plenty of nostalgic vibes here. All eight episodes are now available to stream.

Stan Lee (Disney Plus)
No new Marvel movies or TV shows on the horizon this weekend – though Secret invasionThe exciting opening scene is available to watch now – but Disney Plus Is offering an extended look at the life and legacy of Marvel legend Stan Lee.
Combining never-before-seen footage with archival commentary from Lee himself, Stan Lee exposes the influence of the man whose superhero creations changed the face of entertainment forever.

How to measure a year? (max.)
The second of this week’s documentaries, How to measure a year? was recently nominated for an Oscar in 2023 in the Best Short Documentary Film category.
This 29-minute film, shot over 17 years, follows Jay Rosenblatt’s journey to capture how much his daughter changes during her young life. Asking the same questions on camera on her birthday every year for 17 years, he documents her growth from toddler to young woman – capturing all the beautiful and awkward stages in between.
